HUD Removed!
Ran into some electrical problems. For efficiency I sized the 5VDC PSU to power the USB hubs in addition to the monitors, illuminated switches, etc. Once I started connecting everything I had rolling failures across every system.
I temporarily removed external power from the USB hubs and everything is fine. The manufacturer says the easiest way to combat this is to have a separate PSU for each device – I am asking for clarification (i.e. they mean each hub).
The HUD used a Samsung U70 which is DisplayLink technology. That is wholly incompatible with the rest of the monitors which use MCT. Only recently the DisplayLink installer has warned about the incompatibility but the number of devices I have on MCT outnumbers the devices on DisplayLink.

NotifyPrice
More and more people are turning to online shopping these days. Heck, aside from lumber and paint, I have ordered almost everything I needed for the Dropship project on eBay. And it isn’t every day I share a tool that saves you money so I thought I would share this one.
NotifyPrice has an elegant simplicity going for it. No sign-up process, no verification process, just provide your link and your email address (more options are available for advanced users). It works with every retailer I have thrown at it (eBay included). And it has saved me $15 on a hard drive, $35 on a flight suit, $5 on a motion sensor light, and it keeps going.
Although it is marketed as a “sale price” notification tool, it is more than that. You can also use it as a centralized “smart” wishlist (the toolset for organizing is expanding every week). And even if you bought something already, you can watch the price for a specified period of time to make sure they don’t lower it and owe you money back (Amazon, for example, does this for 7 days from the delivery date).
Anyway, please give it a try. Tell your friends. Save some money!

Commercial Property Insurance
I have told my colleagues at work and my close friends that insurance was the last thing I expected to keep me from realizing my dream.
State Farm issued a business policy at a reasonable rate but then retracted it almost immediately because of miscommunication between the agent and the underwriter about what they were insuring.
I eventually switched to Farmers because they offer a “Business Pursuits on Premises” endorsement – an inexpensive line item but a more expensive policy overall. But that complicated finances between my personal account and the LLC and there were some who questioned if Farmers would pay on a loss (did they really know what they were insuring?).
Finally I found an agent that knows his stuff at Walnut Risk Management here in Kansas City. He understands what my concerns (risks) are and the value of the asset (not just BOM but labor too). We got the binding confirmation today for the property coverage. He also has a general liability policy lined up for when we are ready to take riders.
Needless to say I will sleep easier tonight. And I have the flexibility now to reposition the simulator for my employer’s BBQ next month and Maker’s Fair (if they ever respond) in June.
